I was searching this forum, but could not find anybody referring to the food / supplement with the highest ORAC score ever recorded: extracts based on the Chaga mushroom. I understand there can be small deviations in the scores due to the fact that samples might differ, but this is nothing less then a stunning difference.

The Chaga mushroom is a parasite that grows on birch trees and has many medicinal qualities.
Check wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaga_mushroom.

http://oriveda.com/chaga/resources.php shows a small bar graph that is self explanatory.

How come this was never mentioned here ?
Dear MaxD,

The image which you refer to does not belong to Oriveda company. This image belongs to Sayan health, Inc. We submitted our chaga extract powder to Brunswick lab and have based on results created this graph. Copy of the certificate of testing is available upon request. If Oriveda is using this graph without our permission they are violating copyright law.

Dear Sayanhealth,

I do not know who maxD is and I do not know how you can say the picture he posted belongs to your company. That picture is representing our ORIVEDA Chaga extract and its test results. Those results are based on a recent Brunswick Lab report, available for everybody on request for verification.

I went to your website to check your statements and found a different picture with a significant lower ORAClevel. So there is some misunderstanding I guess ??

As everybody can see, the result in the picture (146,700 TE units /100grams) puts the Oriveda Chaga extract instantly in the Top 5 of anti-oxidants, and underlines again that our extract is the most potent and powerful Siberian Chaga extract worldwide, also in anti-oxidant levels.

All Certificates of Analysis are available on request for those in doubt!!

Visit our website http://chaga.us.oriveda.com/chaga_details.php to find out more about Chaga in case you are interested.

Best regards,

Oriveda

Could be. But whole, unprocessed Chaga is pretty useless, since we cannot digest non-extracted mushrooms. To benefit from the anti-oxidants we need to use extracts.

Have a look at this extensive article if you want to know everything about the how and why: http://supplement-facts.org/2012-6.php
