daily need of ORAC
Hey there,

I'm just curious about the daily need of ORAC. I guess i read 10,000 - 12,000 ORAC per day. Is that about right? It's so hard to find a reliable information about that.
Further, does anyone know if it's important to provide a lot, different antioxidants to the body or if only the absolute ORAC value is of importance.

We have discussed this in detail in this forum. You must consume a variety of fruits and vegetables and nuts in order to have the best benefits. It is better to consume foods that contain 4.000 orac but come from a a variety of sources, instead of consuming 10.000 coming from one source only (whatever the source might be)

According to the FDA you need 3000-5000 ORAC per day.

RE: daily need of ORAC
the recommended range is 3000-5000, but the OPTIMAL is 12000. I read somewhere that 80% of the population does not meet the recommended range! Knowing which fruits or vegetables are at the top makes a huge difference than just consuming 3-5 servings if you don't know which ones are jam packed with antioxidants!
