Procedure and cost to do an ORAC test. - jchase - 04-22-2009 11:57 AM Does anyone know what the procedure, cost and schedule is for doing an ORAC test on a food or supplement? In conjunction with this, I've noticed that some supplements actually post their ORAC value. Is this because they have actually tested their product or because they do the math from the existing ORAC values of the foods they put into their supplements? Re: Procedure and cost to do an ORAC test. - MachineGhost - 05-02-2009 02:04 AM More likely the latter if they don't claim the ORAC value is "lab certified". One example of "lab certified" is ORAC Energy Greens. To do an ORAC hydro test (the main component of total ORACvalue) will cost you $ 275 only. It is important to realize that the methods used by different labs are different, therefore, their results cannot be compared just like that. If you want to compare to the results posted on this site (USDA generated) you should go for Brunswick. Brunswick is the standard in ORAC-country. I am trying to do it by DPPH method and am confused as the unit of both the results by ORAC and DPPH are same, so I am unable to decide whether the later's value can be written as ORAC !! |
